Cultural Experience Coordination

Your Seoul starts 2 days before you arrive.

"What if you had a friend in Korea?"

A Korean friend your age designs your day, just for you. The conversation starts before you arrive — on day one, you already know each other.

Seoul · 2026 20–35 Foreign Travelers Pre-trip 2 Days 1:1 Custom
01 · WHAT IT IS

What exactly is this service

Who uses it

20–35 foreign FIT travelers. Anyone coming to Korea — English speakers drawn by K-drama or K-pop, Japanese and Chinese travelers here for food and culture, and everyone across Asia in between. One thing in common: "I don't want a package, solo has its limits, and I wish I had one person who actually knew the city."

What you get

Starting 2 days before your trip, you connect with a same-age Korean friend over messenger (KakaoTalk / Line / WhatsApp / email). You share what you like, what you want to eat, where you want to go — and your trip quietly begins 2 days early. On the actual day, pick half-day (6h+), full-day (10–12h), or two days with that friend. There's no fixed course — your friend builds it around you, the way they'd take a real friend around.

What it isn't

Not a fixed route. Nobody's holding a flag. No overlapping groups on the same day — one buddy, one party (up to 2 people, same price) for the whole day. Not a random friend-matching app either — the founder personally interviews and selects every buddy, and rematching is free if anything feels off. Legally and structurally, YUKO is "Cultural experience coordination" — connecting, designing, and guaranteeing a day with a peer local friend.

02 · WHY NOW

Why this matters right now

Four market signals aligned.

18.93M 2025 inbound to Korea · all-time high
108% of 2019 (pre-pandemic peak). Not just recovery — a new high. 38.3% cite K-wave as their primary reason to visit.
80.5% FIT share of arrivals
+5.8pp over 5 years. Global solo travel is growing at 13.5% CAGR, and 54.6% of solo travelers are women. Self-directed travel is now the norm.
80% Gen Z reporting loneliness
"I love traveling solo, but I don't want to feel alone." Freedom with connection — a gap no service has been filling.
83% Gen Z prioritizing local experiences
83% say "I want where locals actually go, not tourist spots." Not someone else's package — a one-of-one custom day. "Real local" needs to be in the structure, not just the marketing.
Real Seoul · Not in the guidebook
The neighborhoods locals actually live in,
the alleys only friends know.
Not the Seoul of postcards — the Seoul that's alive every day.
03 · PAIN POINTS

What travelers actually struggle with

"If this were my own city, would I pay that for that route?"
Think about it — you're a "local" in your own city too. The guidebook routes, the Instagram photo spots, the standard packages — you wouldn't use them at home. Travelers coming to Seoul feel the same. They already know better at home, so they want the places real locals actually go. That's exactly where YUKO fits.
"I hate planning, but I hate packages more."
They want freedom but don't know where to start. And being herded around a fixed itinerary is suffocating.
"The more I research, the less I know what's real."
YouTube, blogs, Instagram, TikTok — so much information that picking feels impossible. Information has become its own kind of noise.
"I came for K-drama, but I don't know how to actually meet a Korean."
K-wave brought them here, but there's no real channel to meet locals.
"I'm traveling alone, but I don't want to feel alone."
Freedom is great, until you eat alone for three meals and walk quiet streets — a moment always comes when you wish someone was there.
"Klook tours and Airbnb Experiences feel too 'product.'"
Well-packaged, but zero friend-feeling. You end up being a customer, not a guest.
04 · USP

Why YUKO is different

Not a friend-matching app, not a guided tour. Four things have to hold at the same time to be YUKO.

1
Pre-trip connection, 2 days early
You chat 2 days before the trip. The first meeting isn't the morning you land — it's already started in messages. KoreanBuddy, Creatrip Tour Mate, GoWithGuide all meet only on the day. Your trip effectively starts 2 days earlier.
2
Strict same-age matching
Traveler 20–35 × buddy 20–35. Same generational codes, same interests. Withlocals, ToursByLocals, GoWithGuide mix buddies from 20s to 60s. Same-age is what makes it feel like a friend, not a chaperone.
3
Custom, not a product
Built around your taste, schedule, and interests. No script — your buddy genuinely plans it as "if I were taking someone I know, I'd do this." A day with a local friend, not a guided script.
4
Friend-level warmth, reservation-level certainty
Free friend-matching apps (MEEFF, Tandem) match you with 5 people and maybe 1 actually meets you. Even friends need to carve out time, and that's the hard part. YUKO guarantees date, time, custom plan, and minimum 6 hours together. Free rematch if the match doesn't feel right. Friend-like warmth, reservation-like certainty.
Not a Product · Friend-feeling
Not a product — a relationship.
Not a purchase — a shared day.
That's why YUKO sells "day design and guarantee," not "friend matching."
05 · WHY PAID

Why it's paid, not "just a friend-exchange"

"It's just connecting friends — why pay?"

The question we get most. The answer is simple.

Free doesn't last.

Anyone who's used a free friend-matching app (MEEFF, Tandem) knows. You match with 5 people and maybe 1 actually meets you. You grab one coffee and that's it. Next time, "sorry, too busy" comes back.

Free means neither side gets serious. It becomes "we'll meet if we feel like it", not a real appointment. And honestly — even friends aren't easy to ask to block out a whole day for a stranger from abroad.

At YUKO, your buddy prepares the conversation 2 days ahead and blocks out the full day for you. That's not a favor — it's a service-level commitment. The moment money moves, both sides take it seriously, and that's what creates the quality of the experience.

What we actually sell isn't "friend connection." It's "a day designed and guaranteed, just for you."

All of it together, at that price. Not "getting a friend introduced," but one person taking on every annoying part of a trip for you. That's why we sell coordination, not friendship.

06 · PRICING

Why the price is what it is

Launch pricing (as of April 2026)

Half-day 6h+
₩180,000
₩300,000
−40%
Two-day 2 days
₩490,000
₩800,000
−39%

Why this price is fair

1. You're buying a day, not hours
Half-day or full-day, the buddy designs the route, places, and pacing around you. Per-hour wage math makes it feel cheap — but this is "one peer friend designing and accompanying your entire day + removing reservation, language, and transit friction." That's the right frame.
2. The buddy has to make a livable income for quality to last
Split: buddy 60% / platform 40%. Service fee on top, paid by guest. On a full-day at launch pricing, buddy net is about ₩186,000 (tips separate). A buddy needs enough to stay engaged — and that's what keeps service quality high.
3. Actually underpriced vs. competitors
YUKO Full-day
$219 / 10–12h
Withlocals
€60–150 / 4–5h
ToursByLocals
$80–300 / half-day
KoreanBuddy
$80–120 / 4h

Most of them are same-day-only meetings with mixed age ranges. YUKO hits pre-connection 2 days + same-age + full custom + guaranteed day — all four — at a similar or lower dollar price.
